11 TIPS TO AVOID INJURIES IN MUSICIANS
Musicians spend many hours practicing on our instrument. If we don´t practice this pus in the correct way, we could have big physical problems.
Next, I leave you some tips to avoid physical problems. Special thanks to Arts Institution of Physiology and Mecicine of Terrasa.
- Do not increase the practice hours. (20 minutes maximum per day)
- Play slow motion and increase the difficulty progressively.
- Do not become obsessive with repeating a difficult musical passage. look for alternatives.
- Make breaks between 5 to 10 minutes per half an hour. You can stretching your body.
- Hold a correct position while you are on foot, sitting...
- Work in optimum conditions of lights, noises and temperature.
- Respect the dream and eating hours.
- Work out avoiding the contact sports. You can eliminate tensions.
- Do not play with pain. If you have pain, stop playing and doing soft stretching.
- Streatching after and before playing. You have to take into account:
- Hold every stretching between 20-30 seconds.
- Do not bounce.
- You can do it repeatedly.
