TUBA AND EUPHONIUM FINGERING CHARTS

In the next post I´m going to speak about the different tuba and euphonium fingering charts.



As many of you know, our instruments are in different keys.

• Euphoniums in Bb and CC.

• Tuba in Bb and CC (contrabass tuba) and tuba in Eb and F (bass tuba)

If any tuba or euphonium players want to be good musician, at least they should dominate twot tubas, one contrabass tuba (Bb or CC) and one bass tuba (Eb or F). But, to play in different keys we should use the transposition:

Mental transposition: It´s when we use the same fingers on the different instruments, changing clef an tonality mentally.

Direct transporsition: It´s when we learn the different fingering charts of several instruments, for example we will play the low C:

• 0 with CC tuba.

• 4 with F tuba.

• 4 wiht Bb tuba.

• 1+2 with Eb tuba.

So, if we want to play two instruments on different keys using direct transposition, we should learn the fingering chart of both instruments.

In my opinion, direct transposition has more advantages, because the notes we play and the notes we listen are the same.

• Bb (compensating)

• Bb (non-compensating)
  

TUBAS:

• CC (4 valve)

• CC (5 valve)

• F (5 valve)

• Eb
