MICHEL GODARD: THE GREAT EXPERIENCE

Last weekend the tuba player Michel Godard taught a tuba and serpent master class in Gijón (Spain).



The master class was organized by "YO TUBA" project in collaboration with tuba teachers of the Superior Music Conservatory of Asturias and Music Conservatory of Gijón. Almost 40 tuba and euphonium players came from different parts of the country like, Andalucia, the Basque Country, Calicia, Castellon, Castilla y leon or Asturias.

"Michel Godard" is a jazz musician, tuba and serpent player and he plays in several ensembles of anciente music. Also, he is the serpent teacher in National Conservatory of Paris and he does multitude of concerts and master classes around the world.



The course started on Friday afternoon in the Music Conservatory of Gijón with a group of work warm up, where he taught jazz techniques to apply to tuba and euphinuum. Afterwards we started the individual lessons.



Also, the music shop Gallery Trumpets was present in this event with a showroom of musical instruments a many accessories for brass and wind musicians.

On Saturday and Sunday we were in the room of Concert Band of Gijón, we appreciate his collaboration with our project. There we played several ancient music ensembles and other of jazz music. All of them were a great experience for everybody.

All together, we could enjoy of tuba and serpents Godard´s musicalitly. He plays very beautifully, and he showed us the huge musical possibilities of both instruments.

Whe he played the serpent we could listen to his especial sound, a sound the reaches to our hearts. Cleary it was a great experience.

All the master class was an involved of a great atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed speaking about the tuba and his teaching a lot.
